Guarnaschelli got her first taste of culinary experiences by watching the recipes she'd written in her mother's cookbooks getting examined at home. She worked with Larry Forgione and then at several restaurants in New York France and Los Angeles including Guy Savoy's La Butte Chaillot. She was eventually appointed as executive chef for Butter. Guarnaschelli is a Food Network Iron Chef America contestant who competed against Cat Cora for the Farmers Market Battle of 2007 during Iron Chef America. Since then, she has been an Iron Chef America judge. She was also a contestant on The Next Iron Chef in season 4 in the year 2011. Additionally, she participated on Food Network's Food Network Challenge Ultimate Thanksgiving Feast and was eliminated. She was promoted to sous-chef in the kitchen of Iron chef Geoffrey Zakarian following the 4th season of The Next Iron Chef. In 2008 she became the host of Food Network's The Cooking Loft with Alex Guarnaschelli in which she instructs an intimate group of students in the art of teaching them to reimagine classic recipes.
