Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire, a quiet community situated in The West Island of Montreal is what you might call a "sleepy" place. This part of Montreal is known as the West Island has a lot of communities. Many who've never known about it may confuse it with an island that is west-facing. Amanda Brugel grew up on the island and is commonly called her birthplace. However, she only resided there for a very short period of time. Brugel developed on Courtice located just outside Oshawa within Ontario. She was determined to be a professional dancer but because of a huge increase in her height, she outgrew the dance partners she had. According to an article in the Toronto Star, she revealed that she wore heels and was 6 feet 1 inches tall. After I became too big for my male partners I stopped. Many ex-dancers switch to acting. For Brugel, it was the encouragement by her drama instructor at high school that led her in the direction she wanted. It was her teacher who encouraged her to try out for the role of Anne in their annual school production. The student tried it out, and ended up playing the role of the main character of Anne of Green Gables. Following her award of the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship, she enrolled in York University and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in the year 2000. In the last 20 years, her roles on television and the big screen have varied. Her role as Rita from the award-winning series The Handmaid's Tale was her most famous. Brugel was the only Canadian part of the cast during Season 1 of the series and not seen much.
